Beauty advent!

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all as excited about Christmas as I am! So I finished my beauty advent calendar and wanted to share the last few products with you all!

So I had this great shade of nail varnish from Morgan Taylor. It's a great festive colour and you really can't go wrong with a red shade. It's not watery at all and I'm really happy with it!

I also had this Swell Volumising Hair Mask which is really great. Honestly, if you don't like to use too much product, such as Volumising mousses it's really ideal!

In the advent calendar was also Pixi skin tonic which I have wanted for ages! The size of it is actually so great and you don't need a lot. It doesn't dry your skin out or leave it too greasy. I'm really happy with it!

I also have this Crabtree and Evelyn soap. It smells lovely and feels great. But at the end of the day, it's just a bar of soap. The size of this one wasn't too great either, unfortunately. Luckily the other products make up for it.

This lip crayon was also much appreciated. It's got a lovely glitter to it that isn't too much. The colour is really natural and also well pigmented. It's honestly the best lip crayon I've used, and it's only by Autograph!

Finally, I had this Stila lip glaze. I have a fair few of these already and I really like them. They aren't too sticky but last really well. This colour is also really nice and darker than the ones I already have!

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas!

Veeda Collaboration.

Hey everyone!

So using all natural products is something that is so important to most of us. Natural products are almost synonymous with health and purity so it's not hard to see why people opt for them. I'd never really thought about the need for all natural sanitary products until Veeda got in touch with me. Veeda is the only hypoallergenic, 100% natural cotton tampons on the market, which I was actually surprised at. They don't use any synthetics, dyes or chemicals. By being all natural, they reduce the risk of irritation, allergic reactions and TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome).

TSS is still around today, and effects 40 people a year in Britain. A quick google search will show you the really scary nature of TSS and it's definitely something that puts people off using tampons. It was so great to see that there has never been a case of tampon related TSS when using 100% natural tampons like Veeda. TSS isn't as rare as you might think, and women under 19 are most susceptible, but anyone can get it.

I should also point out that the tampons and pads are all biodegradable which I think is really fantastic. The products themselves are actually really great, and if you read the reviews on their website I'm clearly not the only one that thinks so. It was so great to have my first collaboration with such a great brand and I really recommend checking them out because I was actually so shocked at how reasonable the prices are. Anyway, the website is and if you are interested there are loads more info there.

Hope you guys enjoyed reading this post, it was so exciting doing a collaboration, I can honestly say that I will be switching to Veeda from now on.

Winter Wonderland (FOTD)

Hey Everyone,

Can you believe that it's Christmas this week! This month has absolutely flown by! Now that I've moved home for Christmas it's been really great to catch up with my best friends from home.
Last week we went to Winter Wonderland; it was so lovely and Christmassy, ice-skating is so cute this time of year. We also went for an amazing lunch on top of a tower which was overlooking the sea. It was so lovely even though the weather was not the best!

We had some champagne cocktails and the view was so great. We will definitely do it agin next year, it was the perfect little trip before Christmas.

I used Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in the shade Mont Blanc and set it with Max Factor Creme Puff. I also used a little Mac bronzer and a little Mac blush too. I also used a Topshop lipstick in the shade Undercover. For my eyes, I used Urban Decay Naked 3 shades Dust and Strange. The mascara I used was Pur Vixen. I used Benefit's Browzings to define my eyebrows.

Hope you enjoyed this post

Beauty Advent Week 2!

Hey Everyone!
So this is what I had in my second week of advent treats from my M and S Beauty Advent Calender. I will definitely be getting another one next year because I am in love with everything I've had in there! All the products are really great and the brands they've chosen are so lovely. Anway here is what I've had!

I've had this lovely Liquid Yoga Bath Soak which smells amazing. It literally smells like a spa. If you love bubble baths this may not be for you as obviously its a soak and not a bubble bath. It's really relaxing though and I love it.

I also had this lipstick which is a very neutral shade. It's great for day to day wear and has a lovely texture to it. It's something I will definitely keep in my handbag.

This Neils Yard Frankincense Nourishing Cream is my favourite product. I absolutely adore the smell and it is so wonderful for your skin, especially in winter. You need so little of it so I will definitely be making this last. If there is one product you should 100% try its this one.

I also had this Pure Super Grape Day Cream. It's really light which is perfect for the day and it smells lovely. I really like this one but it's not as good as the Neils Yard cream.

Now I am a huge Percy and Reed fan so I was so excited for this one. It is such a great oil product and doesn't leave your hair looking greasy whatsoever. Definitely recommend this product, particularly if you're blonde. For some reason, a lot of hair oils come off so greasy and saturated on blonde hair but this one is a dream.

I have heard so much about this gel but I still haven't had a chance to try it! I've looked at the reviews which are very positive and the price of this product is not cheap so I am excited to try it!

Another one for my bag! This hand cream is so lovely. It smells great and the tube is so adorable! I have definitely stocked up on hand cream this month and this is a great addition.

I can't believe how quickly Christmas is approaching! Hope you're all having a great December,

A Very Christmassy Post

Hey everyone,

As I have mentioned before I am currently in uni. My flatmate and I decided to have a mini Christmas day before we moved home for the Christmas break. We had such a great day and did such cute things I really wanted to share it with you all!

For lunch, we went to some tea rooms in the city we live in. The place was so cute and old fashioned, I really loved it. We had 3 sets of mini sandwiches and there were so many fillings to choose from. We also had a scone and a piece of cake each, but we were so full we had to take the cakes home with us. I really loved how pretty all the china was there.

We then went back to the flat and watched Elf and The Muppets Christmas Carol which are two of my favourite Christmas films. We decided to take on the task of making our own Christmas dinner. Now I should tell you that our oven is actually terrible, it doesn't even work on some of the settings, so cooking a turkey in it seemed sort of doomed. Luckily it all turned out so great and we were stupidly proud of ourselves.

Hope you enjoyed this post,

Outfit and Face of the Night.

Hey everyone!

I recently went out for my friends 21st Birthday, it was a really great night. We went out for some cocktails and then headed to a club. I think she really enjoyed her birthday night out. Anyway, I wanted to give you a quick post on what I wore and how I did my makeup. I actually had uni until late that day so I didn't get a chance to do more than wash and straighten my hair, so it's nothing too exciting there.

The playsuit is from In the Style, I've never actually heard of the brand before and this was given to me by my flatmate, but I really like it so I will definitely look on it in the future. I also wore my favourite Public Desire shoes which I adore. I seriously recommend the brand.

I used Mac's studio fix fluid foundation in the shade NW13 and set it with Max Factor Creme Puff. To contour, I used seventeen's define and conquer kit which is super blendable. It's so easy to blend making it perfect for contouring. I also used Mac's Boldly Bare lip liner and Mac's Blankety Amplified Lipstick. For my eyes, I used Urban Decay Naked 3 shades Strange, Buzz and a little Blackheart. The mascara I used was Benefit's Roller Lash and I also used fake eyelashes (obviously). I used Benefit's Browzings to define my eyebrows.

Thanks for reading,

Beauty Advent Week 1!

Hey guys!

As promised here is week one of what I got in my beauty advent calendar! Honestly this has been such a fun advent and I am really looking forward to what else I'll be getting this month! I really recommend this M and S beauty advent calendar as everything I have had so far has been amazing.
Anyway, here are the products and reviews!

So this is the Rituals Zensation foaming shower gel in Rice Milk and Cherry Blossom. I love foaming shower gels so I was so happy with this. It is a great size and smells really nice too.

This is one of my favourites for this week. It smells and feels so amazing! This is the first time I've use Cowshed and I will definitely buy it again! It's so great.

This is such a great mascara. The brush is fantastic and It doesn't clump your eyelashes together at all. I have been using Benefits Rollerlash and this has a really similar effect but feels somehow less synthetic than Benefit's mascara. I am so happy with this product.

I also had this lovely Nuit Parfum Rosie perfume and it is gorgeous. I've talked about Lush's shower gel Rose Jam on this blog before and it smells so similar to it. I love this fragrance so much. Like Rose Jam, it smells like roses without being overpowering and smelling like a nans perfume haha.

Another great product is this Leighton Denny nail set. The nail and cuticle cream is great, and I love the buffer. I can already see an improvement in my nails and its been less than a week. If your nails need some TLC this is a great product.

I am a huge fan of Philip Kingsley products and the elasticizer is no exception. It has left my hair feeling amazing. My hair has been, well, not its best lately as I've been ill the last few weeks but this definitely brought it back to life!

Everyone loves Burts Bee's and with good reason. I keep this in my bag now because I love it so much! It also smells amazing!

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Christmas Decorations!

Hey everyone,

It is officially my favourite time of year! I went home to decorate for Christmas this weekend and I wanted to share it with you all! Christmas is such a special time of year and I love all the cute and cosy looking decorations we have this year. We usually decorate a little later in December but this year everyone seems to be putting their decorations up early which I am beyond happy about! Other than the Christmas tree, which is the obvious favourite, my favourite decoration is the little set up of lights we have in the fireplace. They look so cute and cosy.

Hope you liked this little post, I have lots of blog posts planned for this month!

Dark Chocolate Cake.

Hi guys,

As I've mentioned before, I love to cook and bake. I really like reading recipes and love the food network and watching cookery programmes. For the last few years my favourite TV chef has been the amazing Ina Garten. I love her programme so much I will watch it with no intention of ever making the food, although whenever I do the food is amazing. However before Ina my favourite chef was Nigella Lawson, and she has a new show on at the moment.

It's called Simply Nigella and I have been loving it! Today I made her dark and sumptuous chocolate cake so I wanted to share it with you guys! I honestly can not believe how much I love this cake because I am not typically a dark chocolate fan. This cake has espresso in it too and is described as slightly bitter so I really thought I wouldn't enjoy it. By the way I made this cake for my mum, hence why I made something I didn't think I'd like. Anyway, it is not bitter at all, at least not in a negative way. My sister also hates dark chocolate and she loves it too!

Here is the recipe:

for the icing:
60 ml cold water
75 grams coconut butter (this is not the same as oil)
50 grams soft dark sugar
1 ½ teaspoons instant espresso powder
1 ½ tablespoons cocoa
150 grams dark chocolate (min. 70% cocoa solids, see intro), finely chopped

for the cake:
225 grams plain flour
1 ½ teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
½ teaspoon fine sea salt
1 ½ teaspoons instant espresso powder
75 grams cocoa
300 grams soft dark brown sugar
375 ml hot water from a recently boiled kettle
75 grams coconut oil (90ml)
1 ½ teaspoons cider vinegar or white wine vinegar

You will need a 20cm/8in round spring form cake tin.
Start with the icing, though first preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4 and pop in a baking sheet at the same time. Put all of the icing ingredients except the chopped chocolate into a heavy-based saucepan and bring to the boil, making sure everything’s dissolved. Then turn off the heat – but leave the pan on the hob – then quickly add the finely chopped chocolate and swirl the pan so that it is all underwater, so to speak. Leave for a scant minute, then whisk until you have a darkly glossy icing, and leave to cool. I find this takes exactly the amount of time the cake takes to make, cook and cool. But do give the icing a stir with a spatula every now and again.
Line the bottom of your springform cake tin (you will need a good, leak proof one as this is a very wet batter) with baking parchment.
Put the flour, bicarb, salt and instant espresso and cocoa in a bowl and fork to mix.
Mix together the sugar, water, coconut oil and vinegar until the coconut oil has melted, and stir into the dry ingredients, then pour into the prepared tin and bake for 35 minutes. Though do check at the 30-minute mark to see if it is already done.
When it's ready, the cake will be coming away from the edges of the tin and a cake tester will come out clean, apart from a few crumbs. This is a fudgy cake and you don't want to overdo it.
Once the cake is cooked, transfer the tin to a wire rack and let the cake cool in its tin.
Turn to your icing, and give it a good stir with a spatula to check it is at the right consistency. It needs to be runny enough to cover the cake, but thick enough to stay (mostly) on the top. So pour over the unmoulded cake, and use a spatula to ease the icing to the edges, if needed.

Hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you give this recipe a try!
